Hey guys! Been a while, huh? I know, I say that all the time.
I’ve got some pretty cool stuff lined up for this season, though, so I think it’ll keep my motivated to keeping this train running this time.
Just thought I’d give you a heads up on a few things to note about SYTYCD this year, as I found on eonline.
First of all, as Miss @missamymarieC pointed out to me on Twitter, there will be two winners this year. One guy, one girl. Seems pretty stupid to me. I’m really not sure why they’re doing this, because unless my 4-second research is wrong, there’s been an even amount of guys and girls that have won the show, so it’s not like there’s a disproportional amount of guys winning over girls or vice-versa. Strange.
I wonder if they’re testing it here to see if they think it will work on American Idol, since it appears only goofy looking guys with guitars can win the show.
Another weird (and retarded) change is that, if I’m to believe eonline, dancers will only be performing in their own styles. Now this doesn’t makes sense to me at all, so I’m hoping they mean that the dancers will perform in their particular style for the very first episode. Here’s their wording. You can decide.
On Wednesday, June 27 (the series’ 200th episode), the judges will announce the 20 finalists. Then, instead of being randomly assigned a particular style (like ballroom or jazz), the dancers will perform in their own specialties.
I’m not sure, and I can’t find mention of this anywhere else.
Also, when the season gets down to the top 10, there will be another all-star set up. Come on, Frodie. Come back to the show. School is pointless. You’re famous. Hopefully we’ll see some of our old favorites, though.
The biggest, and most positive change (although there will be a lot of people who are going to disagree) is that the season will now have no separate results show. Both the performance and the results show will be all balled into one. Anyone who has read this blog knows that I think that’s a fantastic idea. I hate a show taking up two nights of my time.
The downside: Looks like it will be on the same night as Dance Moms, which I also plan to cover this summer. Jeez.
So what are your thoughts on the new changes? Like or dislike? Here’s to hoping there’s no Jose this season.
Thanks for reading, and get all your friends to read too!
Update: Looks like Dance Moms is showing on Tuesday nights, so it won’t be on the same night as SYTYCD. Woohoo!
